THE PLEASURE GARDENS
1991/92 (20" x 34")
WATERCOLOUR ON PAPER
Private Collection
Large Victorian gardens which belong
communally to the surrounding dwellings are a common feature where
the artist lives. In their time they were called 'Pleasure Gardens'
and they still perform that function today. They are not as well
used as they once were with access being restricted to those owners
who are prepared to pay for the keys. Funding their upkeep is
a considerable ongoing problem.
